24.11.2016 | The National Crime Prevention Programme entitled Working Together for Safer and More Secure Communities, prepared by the National Council for Crime Prevention, aims to promote local cooperation to reduce and prevent crime and the harm caused by it as well as the risk of becoming a victim of crime. We can all take part in preventing crime and increasing safety and security in our communities.

27.6.2014 | Crime prevention at its best is created by increasing a sense of community and neighbourhood help, in which trust and interaction are essential. The working group on neighborhood help released their guidelines on May 23rd, which is the European Neighbours` Day. The group stated that safety is primarily created through trust and interaction instead of barbwires and surveillance cameras.

The Council for Crime Prevention and particularly its Youth and Gang Division assist the Ministry in non-legislative matters. The Division promotes the implementation of the measures under the responsibility of the Council and the Ministry of Justice. It may also carry out other tasks related to the prevention of youth and gang crime unless their significance requires submission to the full Council.

The task of the Research Division is to examine the best practices in crime prevention and the related research, make research initiatives, participate in the preparation of crime prevention reviews, and monitor the development of the crime rate.
